Tall Italian villas overlook tree-lined residential streets throughout Highbury, which was originally built to cater for the Victorian upper classes. The houses, mostly constructed in the 1850s, very nearly weren’t built at all but plans for a large park across this area were shelved in favour of creating a new neighbourhood. Just three miles north of the City, Highbury is bordered by Finsbury Park, Hackney, Islington and Holloway.
